More cards lately

Hey out there! (I sometimes wonder how many people are actually reading this.) For my 4 or 5 friends here is some more of what I have been doing in the last month. As some of you may know I haven't been well. On the days that I did feel good I would run down into the basement and make a quick project. I have made a few Valentines lately. Now that my surgery is behind me I plan on making a few more.

At work we are offering a class where you make some Valentines. They are all red, white, brown and baby blue. I wasn't sure what I thought of the blue. I tried it and this is what I came up with. It looks more like spring to me I added the heart gem and the "XOXO" greeting to try and make it look like a Valentine.

I used some craft cardstock for the body & a scrap of baby blue for the dry embossing. I used a scrap of smooth white for the label that I die cut with a Quickutz die. I stamped on it with brown ink and colored the bird with some colored pencils. I smoothed the coloring with a cotton blending stub. I decided it needed some ribbon so I added that piece next . I pop dotted the label on top and added my gem last. I don't know who this one is for yet, but I hope they like all the details. That ribbon is so thick and satiny!

This next one was fun. I love the wood grain background stamp by Hero Arts. I stamped it on a card I cut out with my Silhouette machine. I used clear ink and clear embossing powder on top of some craft cardstock. After it was heat embossed I rubbed on two darker shades of brown ink, into the grainy cracks. I really wanted it to look like wood. When the brown ink was added I rubbed the extra ink off of the embossed part with a damp baby wipe and then added the rest of the details. The red heart is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and then pop dotted to the interior of the card. It makes it pretty on the outside and the inside.

The label shape, and the red heart were cut out with my Silhouette also. I stamped the greeting on with some brown ink and pop dotted it over the layers of patterned paper, ribbon and lace. This just might be for that handsome Valentine that I married.

This Valentine is for one of my daughters. I hope she will like it. I used that Cored'nations cardstock that is two different colors. It is brown on the front and pink on the inside. I embossed it with the Swiss Dot, Cuttlebug folder, and then sanded it lightly. Now the pink shows through on the front. I stamped the girl in black and colored her with watercolor pencils. I layered her on top of some patterned paper and ribbon.

The heart she is holding is also pop dotted. I water colored it and then added sparkle with a Stardust pen. I love that pen!!!! Just a few gems were added on the right, below the ribbon. I hope she likes it on Valentine's morning.

This next one didn't turn out the way I pictured it at all. I do like how it looks in the end after all. I stamped the white frame onto clear acetate with White Stazon ink. I colored the white card with some Distress inks and stamped a flourish and some text with the blue in the backround. I then stamped the butterfly in black. I had wanted the frame to float above with some pop dots, but you could see them. So I went ahead and attached the acetate with clear vellum adhesive instead.
I added some gems to the dandelions to make it sparkle. I even decorated the envelope on this one. I left a greeting off. I am not sure how I want to use this one yet.

These short projects kept me busy when I felt strong enough to do something for 30 minutes or so. Now that I am doing a little better I am going to start doing a lot more. Check back soon to see what I make next. I'm thinking black and white with a little red, for another Valentine.
